Hiatus

She wanders back in time to days
When laze for days she could
A well deserv-ed hi-a-tus
Time out from what’s routine

Time out then was indeed time out
No TV, mobile phones
No e-mails trailing you
To say what have you been up to?

”I’d better run,” I hear her say
A stitch in time saves nine
I’d better fly before I snap
My sanity, in tact.

Dream Getaway

My dream getaway
Would get me away
From dayless days
And nightless nights

My coveted escape
The anti-metropolis
Will lead as if on wings
To nature’s hexagonal springs

And if I get this chance
To heal of my metropolisytis
I will have made away
With a small happiness in my pouch

And if I from then
Desire to stay away
You’d know then that
I did indeed get my dream getaway

The One Who Was Never Found

image

I am the man who loved his country
The first of many follies
Beyond reason, o’er kith and kin
For a cause that wasn’t  a cause

I am the man you should call brave
Only now I see the thin line
The invisible one that says
Sometimes Naive masks as Brave

I am the woman who left for war
Knowing I might not return
Might be killed or wounded
Or become a prisoner of war

I am the combatant
Who is missing in action
The unknown soldier
The one who was never found

Pretense Sleep

image

A little birdling’s cheep
Is oft the “nudge” I need
To wake me up at morn
And leave my bed forlorn

Beep goes my clock. Beep. Beep.
The snooze button I hit
For, yes, pretend I must
In  deep, long sleep to be

I tiptoe to the door
A peep at you to steal
I see you gulp your coffee
Watch you head out the door

My own relief I hear
A sigh escapes my mouth
You always want to say your piece
Than nurture us some peace

A nagging wife, who can find?
Her trouble’s far from rubies
Her husband’s heart at her doth flinch
He’ll have no lack of pain.

Skin

This skin that you bare
Speaks thousands to me
Your gait’s so enchanting
Too good to be true
Too good is your charm
My alarm has set off
What if you’re not mine?
And for you I’m sport
What if we were never
For each other meant?
And that dreaded day comes
When you shed your skin
The real “you,” you make known
To my own dismay
And of my own misery
You drink to your fill
So ‘ere you get comfortable
In your very own skin
Just know I won’t let you
Get under my skin

Away

Away with love
And away with its lies
A way it is
Of feeding me the highs

Away with hate
I’ll forgive one more time
There ne’er was time to die
Than the moment of truth

Away with cheer
This fairy make-up tale
The ruse contrived
To keep me in limbo

Away with sorrow
Else, away with life
Of what use is the life
That ne’er was lived at all
