Things I’ve Always Known

Blue and yellow make green
As if you didn’t know
As if I’ve never known
In the mélange
Of low spirits and jealousy
Is there a resulting envy, pray tell?
White and black make grey
This is no fact
Of which you know not
If transparency or the sanctity thereof
Were tainted by opacity
And the darkness thereof
Would there be a resulting grey area?
The shrouded mystery thereof?
Why red is akin to danger
The sense of foreboding
And quickly embraced by love
And all in its coffers
Again I cannot tell
What color seems to me to be
Is what it’s not to you
It’s certain that the thoughts of man
Inventions of his mind
Can all hold true whate’er the clime
This I’ve not always known

  2. As all colours have their different shades but all play an important role in aesthetics, likewise we have our individual ways of viewing & doing things, which adds to the overall beauty of life! Whichever shade of a colour one chooses, that must be respected & accepted by ‘ALL’

  3. ….Now, I would say this is my best but I know I would be speaking too soon…I love your ingenuity here…you have a beautiful mind! I wish I had the reviewing powers of Yemie and Topazo to do this poem enough justice, unfortunately I come short..Talking bout colours, you are lilac, Yemie is orange, Topazo is blue or yellow…i wonder what i will get if I blend you three together…

  4. This is like speaking in hues and its sooo well executed! I love how you played with the melange of colors here Honeycomb, and its interesting cause every color’s got its very own meaning and significance but all of that changes when one decides to jazz things up by mixing ’em together to create new hues, with new meanings altogether! Red’s screams danger as in ‘Red Flag’, now add a dash of sunshiny yellow to it and you have orange, fun, zingy; zesty! Replacing danger with fun, life and vivaciousness! Coolness init?! 😊😀

    In the end, it bestows on every individual to create their own color wheel inspite of what obtains and dole out their own, exclusive identities I guess! 😄

        I actually do love a lot, those unconventional colors! You know, ones without labels and meanings, in which I get to decide what they’d mean! Like Lilac, teal, fuschia et al, that came right about as a mixture of two or more primary, secondary or tertiary colors! Those colors are more fun! 😉😄😆

          • Yeah! I actually saw that too someplace, where he called you ‘Lady Lilac’! 😂

            That was the color at my wedding years ago, my friends were adorned in Lilac and I called ’em ‘Ladies in lilac’; and the men in black dappy suits so-called ‘Men in black’! It was so much fun and yeah, I absooolutely LOVE mint too! 😊💟😉

    I love this!
    Things in life do not always fit perfectly into a box. Red is danger, it is also the color of love. Red is good when spilled on a virginal bed…red is bad when it won’t stop flowing…
    Blue is regal and royal, to be blue is bad, for the skin and the mind…green births life, yet you are sick when you are green; either with envy or an illness.
    Sometimes thinking outside the box, breaking convention is how best to view the world
