finding stars…..by Su’eddie Vershima Agema

In every one of life’s endeavors, there are learners (like me☺) and there are masters. There are those who are willing to share knowledge, no matter what level of learning they’re at. This is the case of my friend Su’eddie Vershima Agema. I once called him a critic but now I see him as a friend who simply wants to add value.

Su’eddie writes poetry with his head πŸ˜‰ (correct me if I’m wrong) and he’s very particular about those technicalities of poetry.👌

The poem below, which is written in classical Su’eddie style tells us that sometimes, in searching for that faraway treasure, we end up realizing, that the treasure we sought all along, eluded us because we didn’t look within.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present Su’eddie Vershima Agema. 👏👏👏

finding stars

he looked up to the skies;
it reflected the darkness that lay at the bottom of his heart
he searched for the stars but they were absent
he smiled sadly

he wasn’t going to be low too long
for he knew that beyond those blankets, the stars shone

he took a deep breath, closed his eyes
kissed the air and searched for the stars once more
this time he found a million sparkles
deep within his soul…

  1. I love this!! Thing is if we all know were to look, then we would live perpetually finding stars…they are everywhere, twinkling, shining…the writer of this is one…the owner of this space is another…world is full of stars…..

This has nothing to do with me bro. It’sThanks you. You made it possible and worth our while. So thank you! I appreciate your support on this round. You’re always a brilliant Ray of sunshine. Oops! Did I already say that beforeπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

  2. Though I disagree with the argument here, but I applaud the technique and mastery. The beauty lies in a simplicity which brought out its mastery. However, the logic in seeking for the stars afar without finding it and going inside isn’t convincing. Better he stumbled into the inside find, what prompted him to go inside

    • Hi Iheanyi. I totally agree with you. I argued with the poet persona but (s) he told me that because it didn’t happen to me doesn’t mean it cannot happen like that for someone else. What could I do? I minded my wounds and wrote as dictated by the Muse and persona. But walahi, I see your poibt.

  3. This is one poem that doubles as short and deep at the same time. Many of us nurse the thoughts that happiness and accomplishment come from the outside. In this poem however, we see that that line of thought is highly faulty. We do not have to wait for something to happen so that we can be happy. No. We are responsible for our own happiness. Thank you my dear friend Su’eddie. More wisdom to you!

      • Flattery huh Sagely One?! Will you recognize flattery if it hit you hard across the bridge of your nose Su’eddie?! 😩😈

I don’t flatter Sire, I just tell it as it is; not unless the award you landed was also some poor attempt by a learned bunch in the literary world’s to ‘flatter’ you?! πŸ˜žπŸ˜’ Hmf! πŸ‘ΏπŸ˜†
